How to play Puppy Trainer
Pick a pup (or create one from a photo) and teach tricks by praising at the exact click. The more tricks your pup learns, the more it grows — and as it levels up, its coat gains shine and it looks prouder and prouder.

1. Your first 5 minutes
- The first time you open the app, a 12-second demo plays on its own — a hand walks you through how to play. Want to jump in? Tap Skip at the top right.
- Tap Start. Switch language with KO | EN at the top right.
- Choose your pup — Under "Start with a default pup", swipe through the breed cards and tap one. Breeds with two coats have color dots under the card.
Want it to look like your own dog? Tap "From my dog's photo". The photo is deleted right after we detect breed and coat. - Name it — Type a name or tap a suggestion. Up to 10 letters or numbers.
- Pick a streak goal — 7, 14 or 30 days. You can change it later.
- First lesson: Sit — A hand demonstrates once, then it's your turn. Tap the bottom of the screen (the clicker) the moment the rings overlap. The "click!" tells your pup it did well. Five reps make one session.
- You'll land on Home. From here, a little every day is all it takes.
2. Getting around
Top bar
Four tabs
Playing with your pup in the yard
- Your pup never just stands still. It yawns, wags its tail, scratches an ear, wanders the yard and even performs tricks it has learned.
- Tap = pet (ears back, happy face) · Tap three times = a little hop · Press and hold = belly-up roll
- From 10 PM to 6 AM your pup is asleep. Tap to wake it — it yawns and stretches.
3. How training works
- Each trick lists "about n sessions · n treats". A session is 5 reps; at 100% mastery (how well your pup knows the trick) your pup has learned the trick.
- Leaving mid-session is fine — you'll resume where you stopped (e.g. 3/5).
- Tap a trick button to hear its cue (tap "Sit" and you'll hear "Sit!"). If your pup already knows it, it performs right away. During training the cue plays every rep, and the 🔊 button replays it. Do well and you'll hear praise like "Perfect!" or "Good!".
- Three results: PERFECT (spot on) · GOOD (a little early or late) · MISS. Even a miss earns a bit of XP.
Tricks use different play styles:
For Grade 1 tricks and the first time you meet a new style, a hand demonstrates before you start. Tap ▶ Demo at the top of the training screen to watch again anytime.
Stars 1–3 — More PERFECTs in recent sessions mean more stars (under 40% ★, 40%+ ★★, 80%+ ★★★). Stars never go down.
4. Treats and coins
- Treats power training and exams. One refills every 30 minutes, and they fully refill every day at 4 AM. Running low? Watch an ad for 5 treats (up to 5 times a day, resets at midnight KST — counted separately from puzzle ads).
- Invite friends: when a friend installs from your link and finishes their first training, you get 2 treats and 150 coins (your friend gets 1 treat and 50 coins). Signing up alone doesn't count, and it's up to 10 friends a month.
- Coins: 10 per finished session, 2 per PERFECT, 50 per learned trick, plus missions, check-ins, achievements, graduation, championships and level-ups. Spend them only in the Styling shop.
5. Your daily routine (5–10 minutes)
- Claim your check-in gift — a 7-day calendar. Missing a day never resets it.
- Do today's 3 missions — see the Home card. Complete all 3 to open today's box (5 treats + 50 coins). Until then the card shows "Complete N more mission(s) to open the box".
- Train 2–3 sessions — tap "Continue training" on Home.
- The day changes at 4 AM, so late-night play still counts for that day.
- Train for the first time in your chosen training time (morning, noon or evening — change it in Settings) to get a bonus.
6. How your pup grows
Levels 1–50 — Training earns XP. When the bar under the name tag fills up, you level up!
Your pup's look changes with level
- A celebration plays when the stage changes (tap to skip).
- Prefer the original coat? Switch back anytime in Styling.
Training school: 7 grades
- Learn all 5 tricks in a grade to unlock its graduation exam. Failing costs nothing — just try again. Exams don't need a level.
- From Grade 2 each grade also needs a level (Grade 2 Lv.4 · Grade 3 Lv.8 · Grade 4 Lv.12 · Grade 5 Lv.16 · Grade 6 Lv.22 · Grade 7 Lv.28). If you're short, the path ends with "Opens at Lv.16 (now Lv.13)" and an XP bar.
- Pass to earn a diploma and coins, and unlock the next grade. Coach Bella drops by at the start of each grade and around exams.
- Learning takes days: from Grade 2 each trick's mastery rises once a day. You can keep training after that and still earn XP and coins. Skip a day and each trick can rise twice the next day.
My Puppy Puzzle — it and training unlock each other
- Dog level and learned tricks open puzzles: open stages = the smaller of (5 + dog level × 2) and (30 + learned tricks × 2) (Lv.1 opens 7; stage 100 needs Lv.48 and 35 tricks). Tap a locked stage to see what's holding it back. With several dogs, the highest one counts.
- Puzzles open graduation exams: clear Stage 5 for Grade 1 · Stage 10 for Grade 2 · Stage 18 for Grade 3 · Stage 26 for Grade 4 · Stage 36 for Grade 5 · Stage 46 for Grade 6 · Stage 56 for Grade 7 to take that exam. Grades you've already graduated never lock again.
- Puzzle rewards: clearing a stage for the first time gives treats (1 for stages 1–17, 2 for 18–34 … 6 for 86–100) plus coins. Puzzles don't give your dog XP — levels come from training. Each graduation unlocks a puzzle picture of your dog doing that grade's trick.
- 3 free puzzles a day (resets at midnight KST), up to 5 more with ads. Cleared stages are free to replay (20% coins, no treats). Coins = 10 + stage × 2, ×1.5 for 3 stars.
Trick ranks — keep growing after you learn
- A practice day is a day you train that trick at ★★ or better (once a day; Perfect → Master needs ★★★). The path shows "4/5 days" under each trick, with ✓ once today is done.
- Higher ranks look cleaner (tail wag → faster and cleaner → finishing pose → flourish) and multiply championship points by 1.05–1.2.
- Tricks untouched for 7+ days show 💤 — the first review that day pays double coins!
Proofing and Combo courses (after Grade 4)
- 12 proofing stages — Distance (far back in the yard, tighter PERFECT window) · Duration (tap nothing for 10–60 seconds, then tap when time is up) · Distraction (tapping during a ball, doorbell, toy pile or clapping is a MISS). First ★★ pays 80 coins.
- 10 combos — cues come one after another, each trick judged. First ★★ pays 50 coins and unlocks a one-slot routine block (+10% in championships).
- Each try costs 3 treats. Pick them from the Grades · Proofing · Combos tabs at the top of Training.
6 certificates
Coach Bella celebrates and you can save or share the certificate card. Your best certificate badge sits next to your pup's name on Home.
39 achievements — for tricks, streaks, PERFECTs, graduations and championships. See them in Styling > Collection.
7. Championship
- You can enter once your pup knows 3 or more tricks. Tap "Build a routine and enter" and chain 3–5 learned tricks into a routine. Combos at ★★ or better fit in as one-slot blocks (+10%).
- Each week has a theme trick. Include it in your routine for extra points.
- Entries close every Sunday at 9 PM Korea time, shown in your local time. Results appear on next week's Championship screen.
- Leagues go Sprout → Blossom → Star → Moon → Rainbow. Finish in the top 20% of your league to move up one league next week. You never move down.
- When few players have entered, practice rivals labeled "Classmate" join in (not real people). Places 1–3 win treats and coins.
- Fill the weekly mission bar at the top of the tab to 30, 60 and 100 points to open chests (resets Monday 4 AM).
8. Styling and Collection
- 9 collars · 11 bow ties · 12 yard items · 12 toys — 44 in all. Collars (nylon, plaid and bell up to pearl, gold chain, a sapphire choker and the diamond heart collar) and bow ties (red, polka and tartan up to tuxedo, velvet and sequin) share one neck spot — pick another and the old one comes off; tap the one you're wearing to take it off. The red nylon collar and red bow tie are free basics you own from the start, and every new pup starts wearing the basic collar. Yard items each take a spot (house, bed, decor, fence, water, post). Put one toy in the yard and your pup will play with it.
- Tiers go Common → Fine → Rare → Legendary. The pricier the item, the richer it looks — cotton → silk → velvet and gold → gems and glowing materials — with a fancier card frame to match.
- Buy with coins or earn them from missions, levels, achievements and check-ins. Most Legendary items are rewards only. Short on coins? It tells you "You need ○ more coins". You can try anything on before buying.
- Collection: learned-trick cards, achievements, certificates, diplomas, and the 44 style items.
9. Settings
Sound, Voice on/off, Voice type (male or female, male by default — Coach Bella keeps her own voice), haptics, language (KO/EN), training time, backup (move my progress), Install app, App info (check for updates), 1-year ad removal (coming soon), rename, recreate from photo, Rainbow Bridge mode (quietly remember a pup who has passed), replay tips, How to play (this guide — replay the opening demo at the top), Training library (35 real-dog trick guides), privacy policy and terms, delete data.
Voice commands · My voice
- Tap the 🎤 on Home once and it listens for 4 seconds (tap again to stop). Say a cue like "sit" and your pup does a learned trick; a bubble shows what happened.
- Put a dog's name first and that dog does it ("Snowy, sit" → Snowy sits right where she is in the yard). Say just the name and the dog looks at you and wags.
- Voices you record in My voice play when the game gives a cue. Voice commands use your phone's speech recognition, so they work right away whether you've recorded or not. They don't work in Samsung Internet — use Chrome or the app.
10. Try it with your real dog
Every trick follows real clicker training. Cues, hand signals, the 4 steps and common mistakes for each trick are in Settings > Training library.
- Under 5 minutes at a time, 2–3 short sessions a day
- Tiny treats, big praise
- Stop when your dog seems tired. Go easy on jumps and begging poses with puppies or dogs with weak joints
11. FAQ
- Out of treats
- One refills every 30 minutes and they fully refill at 4 AM. You can also watch an ad for 5.
- My streak broke
- A "Streak freeze" from the day-7 check-in chest protects one missed day (hold up to 2).
- Next grade is locked
- Pass your current grade's graduation exam. From Grade 2 there's also a level requirement (Grade 5 Lv.16 · Grade 6 Lv.22 · Grade 7 Lv.28).
- Mastery stopped rising
- From Grade 2 each trick rises once a day (twice the day after a day off). Come back tomorrow — you still get XP and coins.
- Practice days aren't counting
- You need ★★ or better that day, and only one day counts per day.
- The screen looks old
- When a new version arrives, "A new version is available" appears at the bottom. Tap it to update.

- Is my photo stored?
- No. We only detect breed and coat, then delete the photo right away.
- What about yard items and toys I bought before?
- They're moved to the new items automatically. Since the October 2026 update, the outfits tab is gone — only collars and bow ties remain.
- Start over
- "Delete data" at the bottom of Settings. This can't be undone.
12. Install the app (free)
Open puppytrainer.app/install (also Settings > Install app, or the "Install app" chip on Home) and it lists the right steps for your device.
- Android — Instant install (recommended): Tap "Install app", then "Install". An icon appears on your home screen. It's small and updates itself.
- Android — Get the APK file: Tap "Get the APK file". The first time, your phone asks whether to allow "unknown apps" → turn it on in Settings (you can turn it off after). If a Play Protect notice appears, tap "More details → Install anyway". The app tells you when a new version is out.
- iPhone / iPad: Open in Safari, tap Share (□↑) → "Add to Home Screen". (APKs don't work on iPhone.)
- Computer: Use the install icon at the right of the Chrome/Edge address bar, or "Install app" on the page. Scan the QR code to open it on your phone.
- Move your progress: Bring your pup from the web into the app with the transfer code in Settings > Backup > Move my progress (needed on iPhone, where Safari and the home-screen app keep separate data).
