Cue word: "Left paw · Right paw" · Hand signal: 🐾 Switch the hand you offer · Learn first: Shake

  1. Offer your left hand for the left paw
  2. Offer your right hand for the right paw
  3. Click when it gives the paw you asked for
  4. Do not reward the wrong paw

Common mistake

Practising one side too long locks it in — alternate.

Caution

Keep sessions under 5 minutes. Stop if your dog is tired or uninterested and try again later. Even shorter for puppies and seniors.
