How to teach your dog "Roll Over"

One full roll — the first trick of the Trick class.

Cue word: "Roll over" · Hand signal: 🔄 Draw a circle with your finger · Learn first: Down

  1. Ask for a down first
  2. Move the treat from the nose toward the shoulder
  3. Click the moment it lies on its side
  4. Continue over the back for a full roll

Common mistake

Hard floors hurt the back — use a mat.

Caution

Keep sessions under 5 minutes. Stop if your dog is tired or uninterested and try again later. Even shorter for puppies and seniors.
